Reiki

The name Reiki derives from the pronunciation of two Chinese characters that are said to describe the energy itself: 'rei' (meaning 'spirit', 'soul' or 'ghost') and 'ki '(Chinese qi, here meaning 'energy' or 'life force') As a Reiki practitioner, Reiki energy is channelled through me to you by the laying on of hands. Reiki is an "intelligent" energy, which "knows what to do," or "where it is needed the most." The Reiki energy will go where it needs to for healing. In a Reiki session, I will ask you to lie down and relax on the plinth (padded massage table). Usually I will move my hands close to or on various parts of the body. Reiki practitioners are different and clients are all different. Some people will experience hot or cold in the area being worked on or sometimes a tingling sensation. Often people will feel extremely relaxed and sometimes sleepy during a session. Some clients say they see colours during the session though this is less common. There have been claims of positive effects of Reiki treatment in papers published in some medical journals promoting alternative medicine. Cited benefits include relaxation and increased immunity, reduced heart rate, improved blood pressure, reduced pain, anxiety and depression.

I run Reiki Courses a couple of times a year, if you are interested in being attuned to Reiki please contact me for details of up and coming courses at all levels.
